Bethany Brautigam   -   Biography   Q&A

Bethany Brautigam, Soprano, is quickly gaining acclaim throughout the Midwest for her warm, rich voice and powerful stage presence. As a Young Artist with Cedar Rapids Opera Theater, Ms. Brautigam performed throughout Iowa and covered the role of Donna Elvira/ Don Giovanni .  This past year, she performed Lauretta/ Gianni Schicchi and Cinderella/ Into the Woods at the highly acclaimed summer music festival, Opera in the Ozarks and made her European debut as the title role in Suor Angelica with the Tuscia Operafestival in Viterbo, Italy . Previous opera roles include Donna Elvira/ Don Giovanni, First Lady/ The Magic Flute , Ann/Sandolfon /Dominick Argento’s The Masque of Angels , Suor Genovieffa/La Suora Infermiera/ Suor Angelica , Königin der Nacht/ Die Zauberflö te , Yum-Yum/ The Mikado  and scenes from Le Nozze di Figaro (Contessa Almaviva), Falstaff (Alice Ford), La Traviata (Violetta), Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi), La Rondine (Magda), The Taming of the Shrew (Katharina), I Capuleti e I Montecchi (Giuletta), and Rigoletto (Gilda).  Ms. Brautigam has sung the soprano role in Handel’s Messiah with orchestras both in San Diego, CA, and Chicago, IL. Ms. Brautigam has participated in the first annual OperaWorks Winter Intensive, San Diego Opera Summer Intensive, Sieur du Luth Summer Arts Festival, and Taos Opera Institute. Ms. Brautigam can next be seen as Mimi in Windy City Opera’s inaugural production of La Boheme .  She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Point Loma Nazarene University, and recently completed her Master’s degree at North Park University in Chicago.
